So I have had a fold 5 for almost two years now.. never really gave dex a try. what was i thinking?! once i seen how great it is i ran upstairs and grabbed an extra monitor and now im playing gamecube games.. on my F******G phone dude! Minds blown. Dex deserves more recognition.

DEX is a Samsung thing, not an Android thing.

With CEX mandatory KYC and USA ban of Binance shenanigans, which DEX have you guys used 99 times with 0 problem.

Also some projects like kmd & waves have dex, are they really dex? If so are they equally secure?

obligatory post limit so here is Duskus x San holo:

I am new to the Android phone OS..kinda. Never owned one, but knew how to teach people how to use their phone on a basic level. I now own a S26 Ultra solely for work, daily driver is iPhone 16 Pro.. I also use Linux on most of my computers so; the comparison of how DeX works currently is not far off from Raspberry Pi OS. Maybe leaning into Fedora/Ubuntu ways. I’m all for it.

Guys, as you all know, the DeX interface in UI 8.0 is completely broken when used on a tablet screen. There are two bars, one at the top and one at the bottom, completely ruining the desktop interface that DeX has always intended.

Will this be customizable in this new update?

What is the best dex, least problems and best features?

For those that are crypto noobs and do not know here is the definition for the word dex and how they work!

A decentralized exchange (or DEX) is a peer-to-peer marketplace where transactions occur directly between crypto traders. DEXs fulfill one of crypto’s core possibilities: fostering financial transactions that aren’t officiated by banks, brokers, or any other intermediary. Many popular DEXs, like Uniswap and Sushiwap, run on the Ethereum blockchain.

How do DEXs work?

Unlike centralized exchanges like Coinbase, DEXs don’t allow for exchanges between fiat and crypto — instead, they exclusively trade cryptocurrency tokens for other cryptocurrency tokens. Via a centralized exchange (or CEX), you can trade fiat for crypto (and vice versa) or crypto-crypto pairs — say some of your bitcoin for ETH. You can also often make more advanced moves, like margin trades or setting limit orders. But all of these transactions are handled by the exchange itself via an “order book” that establishes the price for a particular cryptocurrency based on current buy and sell orders — the same method used by stock exchanges like Nasdaq.

Decentralized exchanges, on the other hand, are simply a set of smart contracts. They establish the prices of various cryptocurrencies against each algorithmically and use “liquidity pools” — in which investors lock funds in exchange for interest-like rewards — to facilitate trades. While transactions on a centralized exchange are recorded on that exchange’s internal database, DEX transactions are settled directly on the blockchain. DEXs are usually built on open-source code, meaning that anyone interested can see exactly how they work. That also means that developers can adapt existing code to create new competing projects — which is how Uniswap’s code has been adapted by an entire host of DEXs with “swap” in their names like Sushiswap and Pancakeswap.

What are potential benefits of using a DEX?

Vast variety: If you’re interested in finding a hot token in its infancy, DeFi is the place to be. DEXs offer a virtually limitless range of tokens, from the well-known to the weird and totally random. That’s because anyone can mint an Ethereum-based token and create a liquidity pool for it, so you’ll find a greater array of projects, both vetted and unvetted. (Buyer definitely beware!)

Hacking risks can be reduced: Because all of the funds in a DEX trade are stored on the traders’ own wallets, they are theoretically less susceptible to a hack. (Relatedly, DEXs also reduce what is known as “counterparty risk,” which is the likelihood that one of the involved parties — including potentially the central authority in a non-DeFi transaction — will default.)

Anonymity: No personal information is required to use most popular DEXs. Utility in the developing world: The peer-to-peer lending, speedy transactions, and anonymity made possible by DEXs have made them increasingly popular in developing economies — where solid banking infrastructure might not be available. Anyone with a smartphone and an internet connection can trade via a DEX.

What are some potential downsides?

Trickier user interfaces Navigating decentralized exchanges requires some specialized knowledge and the interfaces aren’t always easy — be prepared to do a lot of research and don’t expect the DEX itself to offer much handholding.

You’ll generally have to look offsite for a walk-through or explainer. Caution is required because it’s possible to make an unfixable error, like sending coins to the wrong wallet.

Another common issue is known as “impermanent loss,” which can result from pairing a more volatile cryptocurrency with a less volatile one in a liquidity pool. (The main takeaway here? Do your own research.)

Smart contract vulnerability Any DeFi protocol is only as secure as the smart contracts that power it — and code can have exploitable bugs (despite lengthy testing) that can result in the loss of your tokens. And while a smart contract might work as intended under normal circumstances, not all rare events, human factors, and hacks can be anticipated by developers.

Riskier coins With the unvetted, vast array of tokens available on most DEXs, there are also a greater number of scams and schemes to be wary of. A token that’s on a hot streak could suddenly be “rug pulled,” when its creator mints a bunch of new tokens, overwhelming the liquidity pool and tanking the value of the coin. Before you buy a new-to-you cryptocurrency or experiment with a new protocol it’s important to learn as much as you can — read white papers, visit developer Twitter feeds or Discord channels, and look for audits of any particular project you’re interested in (some bigger auditors include Certik, Consensys, Chain Security, and Trail of Bits).

So let’s get into it as the title suggests what is the favorite dex you always use? I personally use osmosis based in the cosmos ecosystem, for its simple ui and free trading fee swaps it has going right now and it’s super high staking apr% (102%) is a nice boost.

How do you even rank a dex? Is it by marketcap or 24Hr volume? What is something you look for when you choose one to trade on?

I have tried the big boys (uniswap, pancake, sushi) but they just don’t feel fluid and the fees are pretty bad most of the time.

There is a new dex called comdex on the persistence ecosystem that is releasing a synthetic exchange that will bridge cefi and defi soon which I am going to try out when their marketplace releases in 2022 q1. Many things I choose to consider when using a dex, liquidity, UI,Features, community, security do I happen to be missing something to think of?

Tldr: best dex? I use osmosis dex currently and want more options!

pancakeswap for binance smart chain. traderjoe for avalanche. spookyswap for fantom. uniswap for ethereum. quickswap for polygon, etc.

DEX choice is depends upon the chains.

You can also run Linux desktop environments via Termux (from F-Droid) without root.

Defiplaza is by far the cheapest dex on eth, fees are about 1/3 of uniswaps. The main downside is really that the TVL isn't that high, so swaps above $10k start to get expensive due to slippage, though that means there's great APY if you provide liquidity.

Hello, I've been thinking on moving on from samsung to a different android brand ( as long as it offers a similar desktop like feature but with at least 120 hz wired ) thank you.

DEXs would be unstoppable only if they simplify the buying process a lot more for the average Joe.

You should definitely join To get tips and tricks about Android Desktop Modes. Even Samsung DeX subreddit is important to join.

Hey everyone! I’m a Radical Red player (or at least I try to be 😅), but I’m honestly pretty bad. I’ve been trying to beat it for a long time without success. I hadn’t played Pokémon since Fire Red and Leaf Green, and when I heard about this mod I just had to try it.

To my surprise, there were way more Pokémon and types than I was used to, which made it really hard to keep up. On top of that, the AI in this mod doesn’t go easy on you—any mistake gets punished pretty harshly haha.

I’ve relied a lot on dex.radicalred.net, but I always felt like it could have more features—especially around understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the Pokémon I like.

So I built (with help from AI) an almost identical app, but with the extra features I personally wanted. I’m sharing it here so you can try it out and let me know what you think. I’m open to any feedback or criticism—this was built in just one day with AI agents, so there’s definitely room to improve. If you have ideas, I’ll do my best to implement them when I get some time!
Edit: Forgot to add the link haha

With all of the recent collapses and obvious shenanigans going on at the big CEXes, I think it would be great to highlight what the best DEXes are and why.

We really need to be encouraging crypto users to utilize true distributed trustless exchanges instead of regressing back to a mirror of our current financial system.

Is there anyone doing anything truly revolutionary in the DEX space to make them more accessible for retail investors who are less educated on the space?

Also, what can we do to encourage more people to use a DEX instead of a CEX? I think a big difference is the marketing budgets that these CEXes have. How can we as a community pool resources to market these options to the masses? We need to educate them somehow on the benefits of a distributed system.

Edit:

How can we combine the ease of use of a CEX with the trustless nature of a DEX?

There has to be some sort of hybrid system that can be implemented, like a CEX that operates under control of a DAO.

Is anyone working on something like this?

Depends on which blockchains you want to interact with. Uniswap for ETH, Quickswap for MATIC, SundaeSwap for ADA, PancakeSwap for BNB, etc. There are many trusted ones out there.

Also, what can we do to encourage more people to used a DEX instead of a CEX?

The problem is turning Fiat into Crypto. You need a centralized exchange or entity to turn your bank money into coins, unless you use a BTC ATM which costs a high premium, or you're able to do it P2P, which most people cannot. Also moving coins from one blockchain to another isn't always possible with a DEX, but very possible with CEX. I'm a big fan of DEX, but the space is not 100% there to totally replace CEXs.

Related questions

What is multi-chain compatibility in a DEX?
Multi-chain compatibility lets a decentralized exchange operate across multiple blockchain networks like Ethereum, BSC, and Polygon. This enables broader asset exchange without users needing separate platforms for each chain.
Why do users care about non-custodial wallets in a DEX?
Non-custodial wallets mean users retain control of their private keys and funds at all times. Combined with audited smart contracts, this forms the security foundation that users expect from a trustworthy decentralized exchange.
What is liquidity pool management and yield farming?
Liquidity pool management facilitates trades by ensuring sufficient funds are available for swapping. Yield farming rewards users who provide that liquidity, creating an incentive system that keeps the exchange functional and active.
Should a DEX support both AMM and order-book models?
Supporting both AMM-based and order-book models gives users flexibility in how they trade. AMM relies on liquidity pools for pricing while order-book models match buyers and sellers directly, and offering both caters to different trading preferences.
How important are low fees when choosing a DEX?
Low fees are a significant draw for users, making trades more cost-effective. Some platforms charge roughly a third of what major competitors charge, which can make a meaningful difference for frequent traders.
What makes a DEX easy to use for beginners?
Simplified trading interfaces and an intuitive buying process are key. Platforms that reduce complexity for the average user while maintaining functionality tend to see wider adoption beyond experienced crypto users.
