I encourage you guys to look at the extended trailer and the interview with IGN that James Olghen (kotor 1 director/lots of other bioware games) had. Also the great Drew Karpyshyn is the lead writer/world builder for this game and a lot of us know how important he was for mass effect's writing and world building.

I thought the trailer at the game award's wasn't the best but that could just be marketing being marketing. The extended trailer definitely gave off some serious mass effect vibes. Basically this game seems like Interstellar + mass effect, which is cool since mathew mcconahey is apparently in this game and voices one of the characters. I would link the trailer/interview but I'm bad at that kind of stuff.

Divinity above all else, although it will be quite a wait.

Dark Heresy , Clockwork , Expanse , Exodus , Starfinder , Crimson Desert , TES 6(Its coming soon DAMMIT) , Fable

maybe I am just cynical but trailers rarely exhibit the true quality of the game. I will hold my excitement until the game comes out well.

Owlcat’s upcoming Expanse video game looks really promising. Maybe a next gen mass effect

Hey everyone!

I'm a long-time RPG veteran and I'm curious: what RPGs are you most excited to play over the next 5 years?

I'm especially looking forward to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, Warhorse LOTR game and The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Some of my all-time favorites are Oblivion, Skyrim, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 & 2, The Witcher 1–3, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Elden Ring.

I wasn't a fan of GreedFall. I generally prefer immersive worlds, strong stories, meaningful exploration, memorable characters, and a sense of progression over repetitive or overly "gamey" mechanics.

I play on PC.

Are there any upcoming RPGs—or even lesser-known titles already announced—that you think I should have on my radar? Maybe I've missed a trailer, gameplay reveal, or hidden gem!

 I must not hype.

Hype is the mind-killer

So many, TES VI, Witcher 4, Witcher 1 Remake, KCD '3', Divinity, Clockwork Revolution, new Obsidian Fallout, whatever game From Soft is cooking up next, and Warhorse's LotR RPG.

Clockwork Revolution and Divinity, mostly.

I'm really hopeful that Owlcat Games's Expanse RPG will be wonderful, but it's way too early to know.

The Wayward Realms for me. Gonna be a dream RPG. Spiritual successor to Daggerfall headed by the original creators of Elder Scrolls (one of which passed away recently, sadly).

Excited for the Claire Expedition 33 one, I think that one will be great. Hopefully it gets a ton of attention so we get more like it! I'm kind of interested in the Trails in the Sky Remake but I never played them and I'm nervous I'll love the remake and then have to play the 2nd/3rd in the older titles with no voice acting and such xD will feel drastically different. Also Avowed looks good I'm hoping it goes the more story route.

Anyway, what's your most hyped upcoming RPGs?

I checked also the website of this project, where you can read s snippets of story and it looks and sounds amazing for me. Even the cinematic teaser brought up my memories on femShep. I am very interested to see that time dilatation effect on story. Together with role-playing, romances and combat style I think it is finally some new mass-effect style scifi game.

Hey!

I've been working solo on my game "Belatoris" — an open-world RPG with turn-based combat, settlement management, and sandbox mechanics.

I just finished my first proper gameplay trailer and I’m a bit unsure about one thing:

Do you think it's too chaotic?

I tried to show as many systems as possible (exploration, combat, professions, village management), but I’m wondering if it would be better to split this into multiple, slower trailers instead.

Would love to hear your honest thoughts — especially about clarity and pacing 🙏

i dont think any game will ever truly have it "all", because all that it should have to be a good game is extremely subjective. and trying to actually check every single box so that everyone gets all that they want will make a game never leave development.

outer worlds 2 is coming up, and i do think this one will have a lot. sucks its already hitting controversy over pricing. but based on the studios previous games, and what theyve talked about their intent and attempts with OW2. if they deliver, it might be one of the better AAA RPGs in a while.

I’ve wanted to hear more from this studio, as well as Humanoid Origin (which is Casey Hudson’s new studio, IIRC).

I’m whelmed. Not sure how close this is to launching, though?

So as a huge RPG lover (like many of you here), I’ve been thinking…

Is there any upcoming RPG that truly checks every box?
You know, the kind of grand adventure where you start as a nobody, travel a vast world, build real bonds with companions, and make tough choices that actually matter. Where you feel joy, heartbreak, betrayal, love, and friendship all while shaping the world around you until the very end.

Honestly, I feel like those kinds of games are becoming rare. Every new RPG that drops seems to be missing something.
Sometimes the story feels too grounded or linear. Other times, the companions lack depth or interaction is shallow. And don’t get me started on the lack of real choice driven consequences or meaningful romance options.

At this point, I feel like Owlcat Games is one of the only studios consistently delivering that complete package and even then, it's not perfect. No one else really comes close, in my opinion.

So let’s talk:

  • Are there any upcoming RPGs that you think will actually have it all?
  • And what would your dream RPG look like? (Genre, mechanics, tone, setting, etc.)

I'm kind of bored and craving a long RPG discussion, so let's dive deep into it!
