2027 Horror Film Release Dates: Confirmed Movies so Far
horror films 2027 release dates

The horror films confirmed for 2027 are The Exorcist: Martyrs, A Quiet Place 3, The Mummy 4, and The Third Parent. Exact release dates have not been announced for any of them, so the information available covers titles only. Mike Flanagan is directing The Exorcist: Martyrs, and The Third Parent adapts a creepypasta story with Crispin Glover as the villain and Rob Lowe as the main character.
A Quiet Place 3 is the third entry in that franchise and is simply slated for release in 2027. The Mummy 4 continues The Mummy film series. Beyond those four, users also named The Heretiks and a Mummy project from Radio Silence as films they are hyped for, though no months or days are attached to any title yet.
Reactions to the slate are split. Some users are unhappy that sequels, reboots, and prequels dominate the 2027 lineup and ask why studios do not adapt the many horror books already out there. One user said the 2027 slate bothered them more than the 2026 one and still plans to watch Obsession and Backrooms once they are out of theaters. Others remain excited, pointing to the Radio Silence Mummy film and The Heretiks as highlights.

and we’re not even halfway through the year.
Send Help felt more like a black comedy than horror
i’ve seen the Curry Barker film which was fun but not always super frightening. looking for recommendations on the scariest movies you have seen this year already.
avoid spoilers please!
Obsession. I thought it was the most refreshing horror film I’ve seen in a while. Backrooms was entertaining, but I think I went in with high expectations and it fell a little flat for me. Obsession was the exact opposite, I had zero expectations as I saw it opening weekend before there was all the hype yet. It blew me away
In January, we had 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and Send Help, both of which were pretty good. I wasn't a fan of last year's 28 Years Later, so I was a little skeptical going in but this one was sooo much better. And Send Help was just classic Raimi with a great performance from Rachel McAdams.
February is easily the weakest month for horror this year. We got The Strangers: Chapter 3, Scream 7, Psycho Killer, This is Not a Test, and the Mortuary Assistant, all of which vary from just okay to straight up bad. The only two saving graces were Whistle and Cold Storage, both of which were around average but not terrible.
In March, we had Undertone, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and Forbidden Fruits. Ready or Not 2 and Forbidden Fruits were both really fun movies in their own rights while Undertone wasn't necessarily fun but it was quite creepy at times.
In April, we had Faces of Death and Lee Cronin's The Mummy. Faces of Death was an interesting and tense reimagining of the 1978 original. And I'm sure the Mummy will be divisive for a lot of people but I personally found it really fun.
And this month, so far we've gotten Hokum and Obsession, both of which were fantastic. Hokum was a really creepy folktale horror and there's not enough praise in the world I can give to Obsession, especially for a first time director, and don't even get me started on Inde Naverrette's performance. For the rest of this month we still have Passenger and Backrooms, which I'm really looking forward to.
In June, we'll have Hungry and Leviticus.
In July, we'll have Evil Dead Burn and Her Private Hell.
In August, we'll have Fall 2, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Ice Cream Man, and Insidious: Out of the Further.
In September, we'll have Resident Evil.
In October, we'll have Other Mommy and Clayface.
November doesn't have anything as far as I can tell.
In December, we'll have Werwulf.
This is definitely gonna be a good year for horror.
Obsession, but thought Bone Temple was also solid.
Out of 2026 horror films, I’ve seen: 28 Years Later the bone temple, 5 Nights at Freddy’s 2, Primate, Dracula and Cold Storage but otherwise no other major releases, what am I missing?
The rest good ones I remember seeing like Weapons or Sinners were all from early to mid 2025 but since then I just don’t remember hearing much about hyped or generally well received recent horror films?
Please let me know your recent favorites from this or late last year!
preferably already on streaming, otherwise welcome to recommend upcoming cinema releases that are worth keeping an eye on

What are you excited for?
“haven’t watched a decent horror movie in years”
yeah so this is ragebait
If you haven’t watched a decent movie in years, you need to get watching. So many great horror films each and every year.
we will be eating so well for the next few years!
Horror is killing it lately, I hope we continue to get horror classics.
Most excited about Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma
Slow? Backrooms, 28 Years Later Bone Temple, Send Help, Hokum, Evil Dead Burn, Iron Lung. And Obsession may be the most consequential horror movie since The Exorcist or Halloween - that it is to say, it may change the industry. At the very least be a marker of what is to come.
This has been a banger year so far.
2026 has had so many horror releases so far….
The great thing about this genre is we only get a handful of studio release date announcements well in advance, otherwise you pretty much get a continuous string of surprises throughout the year. So I’m sure 2027 will be awesome.
Sounds like youre not watching much because the past decade has been one of the best for horror in a long time
I just joined this group, so if this has already been discussed, apologies. But has anyone looked at the horror movie lineup for 2027? Remakes, sequels, and prequels. Can no one pick up one of the numerous horror books out there and create something? I haven't watched a decent horror movie in years. Idk about anyone else. I just want a good old slasher, monster, or jumpscare.
Just to edit: I'm mostly upset with the 2027 lineup - not the 2026. I haven't seen Obssesion or Backrooms yet, but I plan to once they're out of theaters. Also, I just don't consider movies like Nosferatu to be "horror." There are plenty of movies that have come out that have been amazing, but I, personally, wouldn't categorize them as horror.
First my most hyped will be The Mummy from radio silence.
Then The Heretiks which I’m so excited for!
I will be seeing clown in a cornfield 2! Which is my third.
Others is I’m hoping for are Smile 3.
And other projects that haven’t been announced yet!
I know right now is 2026, but I can’t stop thinking about the slate for 2027. 2026 has been slow.
But I’m just so excited! 🎃
I mean, colored me impressed since we got alot of horror films like Obsession and Backrooms and I did see Obsession which was fucking fantastic yet there are so many many many 2026 Horror films I havent seen yet yet its pumping like crazy this year.
I give up 2026 is the Year of the Horror.
Now can Obsession win the Oscar for best Picture now?
- Sequels and Reboots Dominate: Some Users express concern about the number of sequels, reboots, and prequels, questioning the originality of the 2027 horror lineup.
